Jeep running hot?

1996 jeep cherokee, changed the water pump, thermostat( fail safe now), new fan assembly, changed hoses, had the radiator flushed and still when i run the air conditioner the temp gage climbs what else is there to check other than taking this old mule out to the pasture.:-) serioulsy any suggestions. thanks

If the water is circulating properly, and the thermostat is correct, and there is no evidence of an actual too-hot engine--it may not be running hot. It is possible the gauge is faulty.

blow the radiator out from the back side , and make sure the fan is on correctly ( blowing toward engine). Then if all is ok do a cylinder leakage test to make sure its not a head gasket. It will bubble in the radiator if one is bad. If all that is ok make sure your ac pump turns freely.
Still sounds like you have a small blockage in your radiator. You can do one of two things here. Replace the radiator with a new one or have your radiator serviced and boiled out to completely remove all sediment in the bottom of the radiator. If you have an automatic trans, you may want to add a trans cooler. This would have you remove the trans lines away from the radiator and into the new seperate cooler. The radiator works less now because of trying to cool the engine only and not the trans and engine.

Last thing to do is have a compression test done on your engine. If you have a lot of carbon build up in the cylinder head, this will raise the compression and force the engine to run hotter under a load. And finally, you can always add an electric fan in front of the radiator to help the radiator out. My 1st idea would to start out by going to the radiator repair shop and have them do a complete cooling test on the cooling system.

Good Luck
mine was too 4.0 6 cyl. smaller temperature sensor top of head in back. small connector 2 wire. change it. was 10-14.00 my gauge never worked better.
You need a HUMMER.
try replacing the radiator cap, theyre only a few bucks
